Drink -
New York City never really got that dark. So on a night where every single light bothered you, making it hard to sleep, it was really a pain to fix. Nights like these really hit home when you only slept four to five hours a day anyway. Gabriel shuffled out of bed and grabbed several of the extra blankets on that lay there and began tossing them up over his windows fixing them so that they blocked out what light his blinds let in. It was a good hour before he was able to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Light -
Gabriel sat hunched over some paperwork in the middle of Central Park. This time of year was brilliant for that sort of thing. He could work until he dropped as no one bothered him. The locals were the only ones that came out and even those were few and far between. It was nice. He yawned and stretched as far back as he could before finally falling backwards onto the grass. The air might be cool but the light from the sun was as warm as could be. Unfortunately when the sunlight disappeared the warmth did awfully quickly as well.

Sleep -
Sleep never truly came to Gabriel.

He went to bed at three or four in the morning most nights and awoke at seven on the dot every morning. What little sleep he did get was often fitful and uneasy, so much so that most times he felt more exhausted after sleeping than he would have if he hadn't slept at all.

He closed his eyes again and tried fruitlessly to get his brain to turn off but after twenty minutes it was clear tonight was going to be one of the latter nights in the never ending struggle of sleep.

Awake -
Wiggle, Wiggle, Wiggle.

Squeak, squeak, squeak.

Lister sat up in the bed, abandoning his toy, and began barking. Jumping back and forth on the bed and nibbling at the wiggling toes underneath the covers. Gabriel had just fallen asleep but it was clear the young puppy had other plans for him. He groaned and tried to pull the covers over his head.

"Go to bed Lister." There was a howl of protest.

"Lister! Go to bed boy!" Then there was a growl as Lister tried to pull the covers off Gabriel. If he was awake his master should be too.

Scent -
The good thing about having so much spare time on ones hands was the ability to do things one hadn't gotten around to. Today he was working on unpacking boxes. In the current box he was working on there were many things. But what stood out most was a light, floral print dress. He debated for a moment just tossing it into the donate pile straight away, after all what was he going to do with a dress?, but it still smelled heavily of his mum and he just wanted to sit there and enjoy the scent for a few moments.

Glass -
Since the flat he was currently staying in wasn't really his flat, and also belonged to someone he knew quite well, there were a lot of things he didn't really do in it. One of them was use the dishwasher, just in case. Besides as a single guy who ate mostly takeaways he really didn't create that many dishes. Hand washing the dishes was almost soothing a chore and most of the time he zoned out while doing them, like tonight. It wasn't until there was a sudden sound of broken glass that he came out of his mindless stupor.

Reflection -
He stepped out of the shower, still dripping wet, and made his way over to the mirror to give himself a once over as he did every morning. With a sweep of his hand he brushes the fog away from the glass and staring back at him was the same face that looked back every day, well, mostly. Lately it seemed more like some sort of odd panting rather than any sort of reflection of himself. He ran his hand over his beard and moved into the medicine cabinet to grab the shaving cream and finish doing his morning routine.

Food -
Just because Gabriel couldn't cook, and was as thin as a rail, didn't mean he didn't like food. Oh no that wasn't the case at all. He loved food. He nodded to the waitress in his favourite little pub upon arrival on Spring Street. Before he could even say anything to her she had a pint in front of him of the house brew, which was his favourite, and a little over half an hour later he had several different things. Beef stew, salad, and a side order of chicken wings with honey barbeque sauce and he couldn't look happier.

Cold -
Gabriel loved fall. It was his favorite time of year by far. But when fall started to turn to winter he wasn't really a fan. He stood on the raised platform pulling his jacket closer to himself, not that it really helped given it was still his 'fall' jacket. He was pretty sure just last week he'd gotten away with flannel shirts and now he was trying to desperately get warmth from a old corduroy jacket and it wasn't working all that well. He let out a sigh and shifted his bag as he waited.

He wasn't ready for Winter.
